As you read this, please know it was lovingly written for your body — a body that needs nourishment, that needs love, that needs gentleness and care. This is why we cook. A house with the door open. We were raised on the smell of garlic in oil, the slow build of a stew, the patience of somebody's grandmother who would not be rushed. This place is what happens when you set that table for everyone — and remember to leave a chair for yourself. Plant-based, by inheritance. The Caribbean has cooked without meat for centuries.
